The Definition of Wellbeing is a state of being comfortable, healthy or happy. Everyone needs social interaction to avoid isolation this is where Activities comes in and within that the all important Life Histories, giving vital information that could unlock past memories and social needs. We have to take this forward to make sure that, say, someone was an avid painter that they are encouraged to come along to arts and crafts sessions, regardless of abilities this can create calm and a sense of familiarality.
Being comfortable alone does not guarantee happiness, social interactions, friendships and meaningful conversations, no matter how small or how these are conveyed are vital. Freedom is also a great key to happiness free to lay the table, fold washing or go for a walk be it in the garden or down to the shop. The feeling of containment can be distructive and cause negative behaviours, so why not walk in the garden or go on an outing, a representation of real life.
Food if I don’t like whats on the menu today, if I was at home I could go and get something I liked from the fridge or cupboard, why should it be any different, after all this is my home. (Larchfield House)
Exercise, we all need this and when you do exercise your brain releases endorphins, adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine. These chemicals all work together to make the feel good factor. So even minimal exercise, such as balloon tennis or a walk along the corridor can only be good.
Laughter and fun who can live without that. Laughter can reduce stress and in turn the reduction of stress can result in a higher immune system performance.
So wellbeing is not just about making people comfortable, warm and well fed, it’s also about making them happy and fulfilled with a unique and individual approach.

On the communities, the residents have decorated their own trees and also one in the community hub and what fantastic job they did. They all enjoyed decorating them in more traditional colours and decorations.
Larchfield House now has a private dining room to be used by the residents and their families for those special occasions or just a private meal together. Please Speak to a member of the team to book the room for that special day.
