Larchfield House's story began on 6th March 2006, when we first opened our doors in Maidenhead and welcomed our very first residents to live with, and be cared for by, us.
Founded on a simple yet profound vision, our goal was to create a sanctuary where clinical nursing excellence and genuine human compassion naturally intersect.
Since that first day, we have steadfastly maintained our commitment to fostering a warm, inclusive environment where residents are respected, supported, and truly feel at home. Our journey over the years has been shaped by the dedication of our nursing staff, the enduring trust built with local families, and a continuous drive to raise the standard of specialist dementia care across Berkshire.

Where It All Began
Larchfield House opened its doors, welcoming its first residents into a purpose-built nursing and residential care home founded on compassion, dignity and exceptional care.
March 2010
A New Vision
A new Director joined Larchfield House, bringing fresh ambition, investment and a long-term vision focused on quality, innovation and continuous improvement.
November 2011
Planning for the Future
With demand for our services continuing to grow, plans were approved to expand the home and enhance the facilities available to residents and their families.
July 2013
Recognition for Quality
Our commitment to raising standards was recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), reflecting the dedication and professionalism of our nursing and care teams.
February 2019
Expansion Was Needed
Larchfield House was at capacity, so the decision was made to expand the home and meet the growing demand for specialist services, increasing from 73 to 96 beds.
July 2020
Investing in the Future
Construction commenced on a major redevelopment, including a new extension with 23 luxury en-suite bedrooms and a spacious central living and dining area designed to enrich residents’ daily lives.
September 2021
Expansion Complete!
Building work was completed and the new rooms, Activity Hub, cinema room and newly landscaped gardens, including a purpose-built BBQ facility, were officially opened by the Rt Hon Theresa May MP.
September 2022
A New Chapter
The expansion was fully completed, increasing our capacity from 73 to 96 beds and introducing beautifully designed accommodation alongside modern communal spaces.
January 2023
Enhancing Rehabilitation
Our in-house Physiotherapist joined the multidisciplinary team, providing personalised rehabilitation programmes to help residents maintain mobility, independence and wellbeing.
September 2023
Expanding Specialist Care
Larchfield House broadened its nursing services to support younger adults with complex clinical needs, delivering highly personalised care through specialist nursing and multidisciplinary expertise.
February 2024
Digital Innovation
We introduced the ATLAS Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) system, further strengthening medication safety, clinical governance and the quality of care delivered to every resident.
2019–June 2025
Consistently Recognised with a Good Rating
Larchfield House achieved its first Good CQC rating in 2019 and has proudly maintained this rating through every inspection, including June 2025. Throughout this period, we have also consistently maintained a Good PAMMS rating, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led services.
Nearly two decades on, that same commitment shapes every day at Larchfield - and the story continues to grow.
